The Optoma Wave 130RK is here!

Optoma’s Wave 130RK Projector has arrived! This laser-based home projector replaces the ever-popular UHZ45 with added improvements such as a huge optical zoom, extra brightness, and improved contrast. Laser home theatre projectors are becoming increasingly popular with benefits such as lower cost of ownership, lower power consumption, and better black levels. With prices on laser projectors dropping now may be the time to consider upgrading your old lamp-based projector.

Happy New Year

It's that time of year again where the Just Projectors team will take a couple weeks off for some well-deserved rest. Our office will be closed from Noon Christmas Eve and re-open on Monday 6th January. During this closure we'll still be trying to dispatch orders every few days however please expect some delays. Some products, such as Elite Projector Screens, will not be available for dispatch until the Elite warehouse opens on Monday 13th JAN.

Accurate Brightness Ratings

Epson has taken charge in the fight against misleading brightness claims by various projector manufacturers with recent settlements by AWOL and JmGO. Exaggerated advertised brightness ratings have become a larger problem in the industry with a recent increase of smaller brands entering the market. Formovie, Philips, Xgimi, Ankor, Vava and several Amazon brands have all been taken to court over their advertised lumen ratings.
We can only hope this added scrutiny will remind projector brands of their obligation to ensure advertised brightness ratings remain as accurate as possible.

Wanbo X5 Pro Coming Soon

The X5 Pro is the latest offering by the popular LED brand Wanbo with first stocks scheduled to land in Australia in Feb 2025. It comes jam packed with features including 1100 ANSI Lumens brightness, Full HD resolution, Android 11, Chromecast, Auto Focus, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2x 5watt speakers inbuilt. Pre orders will be opening soon.

The end of the Projector Lamp?

In 2026 the European Unions ban on mercury projector lamps comes into effect, but don't panic just yet. Projector lamp supply is expected to continue as usual in the rest of the world, for the near future at least. The long-term future is mercury free though so eventually we'll see all projectors moving toward an LED or Laser light source.

NEC to Sharp

Time for a name change. Over the next 12 months we'll start seeing all NEC badged projectors change over to Sharp badging as Sharp Corporation of Australia completes its integration of NEC Display Solutions. Except for the name change it is otherwise business as usual over at NEC.
