Optoma OMA-S RGB Triple Laser Portable Projector
The Optoma OMA-S or ML1080ST as it is known in Europe is a compact powerful laser projector with incredible colour reproduction. Equipped with a new triple laser light source it can exceed the elite grade of colour range standard BT.2020 covering 105%. The triple laser system is also rated for a long life of up to 30,000 hours eliminating the need to worry about lamps or how many hours of entertainment you are enjoying. Weighing in under 1kilogram the OMA-S is amazingly easy to transport and a great companion for travel. With auto keystone and motorised focus it is a cinch to setup and with a short throw lens can project a massive 2 metres wide image at only 1.6 metres distance.

In addition, wide-colour gamut RGB laser projectors like the OMA-S often seem brighter than their ANSI brightness ratings indicate due to the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch (HK) effect. Since the human eye is more sensitive to certain wavelengths of light, viewers often perceive highly saturated images as brighter than less saturated images. I did notice that in the picture modes that utilized the projector's wide color gamut reproduction, colors were noticeably more saturated, and the image looked brighter. The wide-color picture modes are a great option whenviewing content in rooms with ambient light.
With a suggested retail price of nearly two thousand dollars, the OMA-S is more expensive than most compact projectors. However, the unit’s picture quality, feature set, and construction justify the premium price. For example, due to its wide color gamut light source, OMA-S could reproduce colors that most projectors cannot, regardless of their size.
The OMA-S delivered better color reproduction than most of the portable projectors that I have reviewed. The wider color gamut also made colors pop even in rooms with ambient light. Wide color reproduction is advantageous since the projector supports HDR and HLG content.
