Toshiba TDP-S8 PORTABLE PROJECTOR

Discontinued

Our Say
At first glance this release from Toshiba appears very similar to the BenQ MP610 but upon further inspection you may be surprised at the small but various benefits.
First of all, the projector itself is surprisingly small in comparison to the BenQ and even the Acer options. It takes up much less room than an A4 piece of paper but still manages to pump out 2000 ANSI Lumens, enough for presentations even in a well lit room. Comparative to the small size, the weight of the unit is only 2kg and, with the included carry case, is much easier to carry than most notebook computers.

Another benefit that many people overlook is the very long warranty period. Toshiba have guaranteed the product for a outstanding 3 years. As you may see while browsing this website, virtually all projectors from other brands come with a 2 year standard warranty. You are essentially getting an extra year without having to pay $250 for an extended warranty.

As image quality is concerned, you can expect the same high quality as you would from any Toshiba product. The contrast is very good and the colours are plentiful and accurate. Due to the high contrast ratio and brightness you will have no worries using the unit for both your presentations or at home for movies, sport or even playing some games through the Xbox360.

Product Information
With the Toshiba s8 there is no place for compromise.  The s8 with its 2000:1 contrast ratio and brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens together with DLP technology delivers incredibly brilliant high quality images.  The s8 is all you need for the business, education or home, at just 2kg it is highly portable and perfect for flexible working.

Toshiba Projection & Display Technology (PDT), leading provider of professional data
and video projectors, now presents the S8 DLPTM Projector, follow-up model to the
successful S25. This new-style, compact projector for show-stopping home cinema
performances features attractive design and a dark grey finish. Brightness has been
enhanced to 2,000 ANSI lumens and, with the high 2,000:1 contrast, ensures
outstanding image quality even in poorly darkened rooms. The projector’s SVGA
resolution of 800 x 600 combined with DLPTM technology guarantees flawless home
cinema enjoyment. The optional ECO mode reduces fan noise while extending lamp life.

Toshiba has primarily aimed the S8 at home users seeking a compact projector with high brightness specs. Thanks to its icon-based on-screen displays, operation is child’s play – the performance can start straight away.

Flexibility in connection options
The S8 is strong on flexible connection options, with RGB and video inputs (S-Video, RCA) plus RGB and audio outputs to ensure problem-free connections to DVD players, video recorders and TV tuners, but also media servers, PCs/ notebooks or digicams. Separate audio connections also enable external sound systems to be connected to give superb sound at home cinema screenings. The remote control unit supplied enables all
functions to be controlled as conveniently as with the TV. The password and panel lock functions enable parents, for example, to prevent children operating the projector without permission. “The S8 is a worthy successor to its previous model – but so much more besides“, says Gerd Holl, General Manager of Toshiba Projection & Display Technology (PDT). “The new model features improved brightness, Toshiba’s familiar impressive contrast plus a wide range of practical functions – all packed into a mere 2 kilos. With such an attractive price-performance ratio, we expect to see the S8 becoming the star of home cinema everywhere“.
