Epson EMP-1825 TFT Large Venue Multimedia Projector - Wireless, Wired networking & PC-Free

EMP1825 Reviews:

"In the category of compatibility the Epson ticks a huge box. Normally in a wireless or wired networkable projector the connection has to be direct (peer to peer) and the software to run the wireless or wired networking is only compatible with Windows. The EMP-1825 is compatible with a fully networked connection, apple mac's as well as windows PC's, and offers easy to use software to set it all up.

The PC-Free function is another winner allowing you to take the presentation on the road without a 2 or 3 kg laptop. To use the projector with powerpoint presentations you do have to format them using the Epson software provided this simplifies the powerpoint a little taking out animations and sounds, but the loss of some squiggles is more than made up for by the 3kg not hanging from your shoulder."

The Epson Powerlite 1825p and 1810p are solid, from start to finish. Excellent image quality is combined with more than enough lumen output to handle the needs of probably 98%+ of presenters and facilities, plus some very slick wireless and wired networking capabilities come with the Powerlite 1825p. Setting up the wireless networking, normally a major league challenge for all but serious IT personnel, turned out to be pretty

straightforward, with only one or two minor issues not clearly defined in the documentation.

I must truly be impressed with these two Epson Powerlite projectors, the list of Pros just kept getting longer and longer, and then I was struggling to find even a few real "Cons", and while the Epson projectors as part of a group - sub-10 pound high power portables, are very similar in many general ways with competitors, little about the individual features of these Epson's are average.

A projector that delivers new levels of performance and flexibility for presentations in the corporate and education environments. Featuring advanced technologies and features, such as multi-screen display and advanced wireless connectivity and security, the Epson EMP-1825 is a major step forward in the world of wireless 3500 ANSI lumens projectors.

Quick Setup

Advanced one-touch automatic setup for keystone correction and image size adjustment

Underpinning the projector's auto keystone correction and image size adjustment is Epson's Auto Quick Corner technology, which uses sophisticated image profile detection to identify, with pinpoint accuracy, the four corners of a projected image. Auto Quick Corner automatically fine tunes the projector's lens angles, ensuring the image is accurately squared and fits within the border of the screen.

Advanced 3LCD Technology

At the heart of the EMP-1825 is Epson's world-leading 3LCD technology. This projection system uses three individual LCD panels to give form to images that exhibit silky smooth movement and fresh, natural colours.

Bright, vibrant colours and unequalled image quality are characteristic of 3LCD technology, with the projector delivering outstanding results in any presentation environment.

Due to 3LCD's incredibly efficient use of light, projectors based on this

technology are able to achieve quiet operating levels, exceptional clarity and flicker-free presentations.

High Brightness Level

Up to 3500 ANSI lumens for brilliant image projection

With a 3500 ANSI lumens rating - the EMP-1825 consistently delivers brilliant presentation quality, even in situations where there are high ambient light levels. The projector's ability to cut through ambient light and ensure maximum image quality is due to its E-TORL (Epson Twin Optimised Reflection Lamp), which generates 3500 ANSI lumens yet requires only 210 Watts.

Smart Connection Plug 'n Play

Connect directly to a PC using a USB cable

In taking projector-to-PC connectivity to the next stage, Epson designed the EMP-1825 with a versatile Plug `n Play connection. With Smart Connect, the projector can be connected to the PC with little more than a USB cable, instead of the traditional VGA cable. Aside from dramatically reducing cable clutter and simplifying projector setup, Smart Connect is another feature that exemplifies Epson's commitment to powerful yet easy to use projectors in both installation and portable operations.

Multi-Screen Display

Simultaneous single computer control of up to four projectors

When Epson introduced projectors with multi-screen display capabilities - another world first for Epson in projectors - users quickly recognised the enormous benefits of being able to take advantage of a PC operating system's desktop capabilities.

Now, with the EMP-1825, multi-screen display means a single computer can control simultaneously up to four EMP-1825s, with each one displaying the video output of a separate application. In the corporate and education markets, multi-screen display provides a means by which presentations can be more dynamic and have greater audience impact than ever before.

Wired or Wireless Network Connectivity

Absolute flexibility in today's network environments

A key benefit of the EMP-1825 is its ability to be network connected either wired – via the in–built RJ–45 network connector – or wirelessly.

Using Epson's NS connection wireless mode, the EMP-1825 supports 802.11a/b/g protocols, achieving a wireless transfer rate of up to 54Mbps. This high speed wireless capability represents new levels of presentation performance and freedom.

Contributing significantly to the EMP-1825's high performance when operating in a wireless network environment is the Epson NS Connection technology, designed specifically to improve the compression and decompression of data; resulting in superb image quality and transfer speed.

* Note: EMP NS Connection, EMP Monitor or EMP Slidemaker2 software does not support Win XP 64bit or Win Vista 64bit.
* It is possible to connect toa network (wired or wireless) using the Micosoft Windows Vista™ Network Projector Function

Windows Vista™

Show your presentation wirelessly or over a wired network using Microsoft Vista™ network function projector.

High Brightness Level

Up to 3500 ANSI lumens for brilliant image projection

With a 3500 ANSI lumens rating — the EMP-1825 consistently delivers brilliant presentation quality, even in situations where there are high ambient light levels. The projector's ability to cut through ambient light and ensure maximum image quality is due to its E–TORL (Epson Twin Optimised Reflection Lamp), which generates 3500 ANSI lumens yet requires only 210 Watts.

Movie Sending

Whether in a corporate conference room, a university lecture hall or even a home theatre, the EMP-1825 provides an outstanding MPEG2 video experience. Utilising advanced high performance file transfer technology built–in to the unit, MPEG2 files can be wirelessly transferred directly to the projector for high quality and — importantly — full screen video display.

Advanced wireless security

Enterprise level wireless network and security

To ensure the EMP-1825 provides the best possible fit with today's increasingly wireless environment, the projector has been designed with enterprise-level security features. Among the various security and encryption technologies incorporated within the projector are:

  • Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) standard encryption scheme
  • WiFi Protected Access-PreShared Key (WPA-PSK) security specification, often referred to as WPA "Home", which uses a key of 256 bits in length
  • WiFi Protected Access-Extensible Authentication Protocol (WPA-EAP), sometimes referred to as WPA "Enterprise", which offers TLS (Transport Layer Security), TTLS (Tunnelled Transport Layer Security) and PEAP (Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol) connection and authentication methods.
  • Lightweight and Efficient Application Protocols (LEAP)

PC-Free Presentation

Total freedom to present without the need for a connected computer

Connect a USB memory device or insert a CF (Compact Flash) card to project pictures, MPEG2 files and presentations without the need for a PC - it's that simple.

True projection portability requires more than just freedom from the need to create a projector-to-PC/notebook connection, which is why the EMP-1825 provides full industry-standard USB/CF card support. Convert your PowerPoint® presentation using the software provided, save it to a memory card, and true projection portability becomes a reality. Epson's powerful card player software, built in to the projector, lets you take control of your presentations and leave your PC or notebook behind.

Installation Convenience

80-inch screen from just 2.4 metres

Featuring a powerful 1.6x optical zoom, the EMP-1825 can project an 80-inch screen from a distance of as little as 2.4 metres. As a result, this short-throw feature means that even in the smallest of rooms, presenters can deliver large screen presentations that demonstrate the projector's advanced image and colour technologies.

Installation or Portable

Easily set up for either installation or portable operations

A distinct advantage of the EMP-1825 projector is the ability to set it up for either installation or portable operation. And in stark contrast to many projectors, when the EMP-1825 is ceiling mounted, maintenance is totally hassle-free, with the lamp and air filter easily accessible for changing and/or cleaning.

Protecting your investment in an EMP-1825 is essential; and the EMP-1825 has been designed so it can be securely connected to the ceiling mount by a tamper proof security cable, effectively thwarting any would be thieves.

For portable operations, the EMP-1825 represents a new era in portability and power weighing in at just 2.9 kilograms. Instant Off functionality allows the projector to be immediately packed and transported without the overhead of a cool-down period.

Light-efficient lamp technology - E -TORL

Delivering brilliant light - all the time, every time

One of the crucial features offered by the EMP-1825 is its ability to provide up to 3500 ANSI lumens via incredibly efficient E-TORL (Epson Twin Optimised Reflection Lamp) technology. Designed to minimise light leakage - a primary cause of lamp inefficiency - and minimise light diffraction, E-TORL lamps combine an ellipsoidal reflector, spherical lens and hemispherical mirror. This combination ensures optimum light efficiency with minimal power consumption and heat generation.

A/V Mute Slide

Quick and simple suspend-and-resume operation

By taking advantage of the single-operation A/V Mute Slide, Epson EMP-1825 users can quickly suspend a presentation - audio and video - and draw the audience's attention elsewhere. Then, simply by sliding the A/V Mute Slide again, the presentation can be instantly resumed. This easy to use feature gives presenters even greater control over the projector and, importantly, their presentations.
