Epson EMP EH TW3000 Reviews: |
|
|
"Traditionaly home theatre projectors have required a dark room to get a reasonable image but with the new EH-TW3000 Epson have equiped it with a surprising 1800 lumens without sacrificing on image quality. This won't allow it to project in a glass house but the extra power allows anyone with a room that can't be fully darkened to get a nice strong image. For those who want a massive image size older style projectors would give you a faint picture when looking at filling a wall but the extra brightness will fix that limitation as well." |
|
|
- Very good color accuracy even before calibration, in best mode
- Slightly brighter than average in "best" mode
- One of the brightest home theater projectors in "brightest" mode
- Black levels very good, about as good as any projector that doesn't fit into the "ultra high contrast" (and more expensive) category
- Very good skin tones
- Dynamic image, with lots of "pop and wow" in almost any mode
- Two HDMI 1.3b compatible inputs
- Very sharp image
- Very good remote control
- Excellent placement flexibility with 2.1:1 zoom and lens shift
- Excellent menu layout
- Good color management controls

- One of the most affordable 1080p projectors
- Excellent price/performance

|
It did not disappoint, with consistent sharpness and fine image detail from corner to corner. In its default settings we definitely found the image too bright — with the added downside of producing intrusive fan noise. When the brightness was lowered to more theatre room-friendly levels fan noise dropped off to near-inaudible levels.
Even in our standard definition video tests, with the difficult lobby scene from The Matrix, the Epson EH-TW3000’s up-scaler efficiently displayed video with no aberrations or artifacting.
There are no areas where the Epson EH-TW3000 struggles. It is a capable all-round home theatre projector for a good price, so if you are considering a more expensive model, check out Epson’s offering as well. |

AKA Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 6100
Introducing the Epson EH–TW3000; the first in a new range of advanced 1080p digital projectors from the world leader in home cinema – Epson. The EH–TW3000 delivers a spectacular full High Definition digital home cinema experience in your own home.
Light–efficient lamp technology E–TORL
One of the crucial features delivered by the EH-TW3000 is its ability to provide up to 1800 lumens via incredibly efficient E–TORL (Epson Twin Optimised Reflection Lamp) technology. Designed to minimise light leakage – a primary cause of lamp inefficiency – and minimise light diffraction, E–TORL lamps combine an ellipsoidal reflector, spherical lens and hemispherical mirror. This combination ensures optimum light efficiency with minimal power consumption and heat generation.
Environmentally Conscious Design
No use of Halogen fireproof chemicals for the the main body
Recycled paper used for packaging, no use of Styrofoam
Lead-free lens

High Brightness
With 1,800 lumens in high brightness mode, the EH-TW3000 delivers brilliant cinema quality viewing. The EH-TW3000 is designed with features to ensure a "best fit" for any situation whether it’s a dedicated home theatre room or living room. |
18000:1 High Contrast Ratio
When it comes to delivering optimum image display quality–colour, brightness and contrast ratio are the key determining factors.
With a spectacular contrast ratio of 18,000:1, the EH-TW3000 projects |
|
bright scenes with ultra bright whites, and dark scenes with rich blacks. Underpinning the projector's ability to regulate the brightness and contrast of every scene is the advanced Auto Iris function and Full High Definition 3LCD panel technology.
Using the new Auto Iris function, the EH-TW3000 controls and adjusts lamp brightness levels 60 times every second. When the projector is displaying a light scene, the iris is opened to allow more light to pass through to the LCD panels, resulting in a bright image. For dark scenes, the iris opening is reduced, delivering richer blacks than are possible with less advanced systems. The new Auto Iris feature on the EH-TW3000, allows you to select either Normal or Fast Speed giving the viewer even more control over the picture. |
Crystal Clear Fine 3LCD technology
At the heart of the EH-TW3000 is Epson's world–leading 3LCD technology. This advanced projection system uses three individual LCD panels to give form to images with silky smooth movement and fresh, natural colours delivering outstanding results in any home cinema environment.
Due to 3LCD's incredibly efficient use of light, in combination with a 200W E–TORL lamp, the EH-TW3000 achieves quiet operating levels, exceptional image clarity and a flicker–free display. Importantly, it's Epson's 3LCD Panel that optimises the display of high–definition images from the latest technologies, including High Definition Broadcasting, Blu–ray and HD–DVD. |
|
|
Cinema Filter
An inherent feature in all Epson Home Cinema projectors is a uniquely designed Cinema Filter. Built into the projector's lamp system, the Cinema Filter is a crucial component in achieving a wide colour gamut and colour purity. This innovative technology is able to optically adjust the three primary light colours (Red, Green and Blue) with exceptional balance and precision for incredibly accurate colour reproduction. |
HDMI
The EH-TW3000 features dual, HDMI terminals capable of transmitting nearly double the information of previous HDMI versions, thus expanding the number of colours considerably. Connecting with a next generation Blue Ray player makes it possible to enjoy the absolute best image quality that full high definition 1080p can provide. |
|
Flexible connectivity
One of the many advantages of the EH-TW3000 in a home cinema environment is its wide range of connectivity features. With HDMI (x 2), Component Video, Composite Video, S–Video, RS232C, PC and Trigger Out connection ports, the can be configured effortlessly for virtually any home cinema, regardless of its A/V source.
|

|
|

EH-TW3000 features 2–3/2–2 pulldown. and is selectable in the EH-TW3000 on screen menu.

2–2 pulldown (48Hz): Each frame length is same as the original film. |
Seven Colour Modes
Optimising colour and brightness for every occasion
Featuring six separate colour modes, the EH-TW3000 is easily and quickly configured for optimum brightness and contrast in a range of environments. From the Dynamic Colour Mode, which is ideal for even brightly lit rooms, right down to Theatre Black 2 mode for the warmth and depth of cinema–like images, the EH-TW3000 delivers superb image and colour fidelity.
Low Fan Noise

|
|
Advanced lens and optical engine
Reduced flare and high resolving power
A major contributing factor to the EH-TW3000's exceptional video quality is a new optical engine. With a large aperture and Extra–low Dispersion lens, which is multi–coated to diffuse reflection, the EH-TW3000 delivers crystal clear images with high contrast levels. |
Of particular note is the increase in number of multi lenses from 32 to 56. With each of the small lenses illuminating the LCD panels, there is a greater uniformity of lighting and dramatically improved evenness of colour. |
1080p Full HD
The world's leading digital video standard
With 1080 pixel progressive scan (1080p), the EH-TW3000 delivers the maximum high–definition video output currently available. In contrast to earlier 720p projector models, which can display only 921,600 pixels, the EH-TW3000 displays an astounding 2,073,600 pixels!
|
|
Essentially, it's the world's leading digital video standard in your own home. |
Powerful lens shifting and zoom ratio
Technology that ensures the projector delivers a best fit for your lifestyle
To ensure the EH-TW3000 fits perfectly into your home cinema, it has been designed with vertical and horizontal lens shift capabilities for easy positioning well off–centre. With these capabilities, the projector can be positioned up to nearly two screen widths laterally and three screens vertically without altering the image shape or compromising image quality.
|
|
Adding further to the flexible positioning capabilities of the EH-TW3000 is a powerful 2.1 wide zoom ratio and short focus lens, which increases the range of set up possibilities, by allowing for movement both forward and back in relation to the screen. With the short focus lens, the projector can project a massive 100–inch screen from as close as three metres. |
|
Six–axis colour adjustment
Total colour control
The EH-TW3000 has been designed to provide home cinema enthusiasts with total control over their video output; and a powerful six–axis colour adjustment capability is crucial in achieving this. With the ability to adjust independently the hue and saturation for each of the RGBCMY colour components, the EH-TW3000 can be adjusted precisely to your unique colour preferences. |
